Meet The Team: Luis Núñez, Area Sales Manager

Luis started his career in plastics within the thermoplastics industry as an Area Manager for a West Coast resin distribution company in Santa Fe Springs, CA while developing the Baja border region. Working also within the custom molding industry supporting primarily the automotive and EV market for different OEM’s and finally joining Turner Group in 2020. He covers the SD-Baja and Sonora region helping our customers to gear up with the latest technologies for the upcoming opportunities and challenges ahead.

Luis was born and raised in Zapopan, Jalisco, MX. The state where the mariachi music and the world-famous spirit elixir “Tequila” comes from. He is a happily married 34-year-old and proud father of two beautiful girls (Ivanna & Romina) and a lovely French Bulldog (Bleue).

Would you share a happy/fun memory from your childhood?
I remember having many happy/fun moments during childhood, but one of the best times I had was when I was playing soccer in primary school.
I fully enjoyed every single part of it during that 6-year period. We won 5 out 6 tournaments. And learned plenty of things that treasured with me nowadays. Some of them are:
1. It may be cheesy but still true. There’s no I in TEAM.
2. Regardless how good you think you are. You’ll be stronger playing as a TEAM.
3. Playing at your top level and giving the best of you does not guarantee a win but that’s still OK.

What gives your work life meaning?
Taking concepts/ideas and convert them into reality, helping others, and making long lasting impact .

What gives your personal life meaning?
Family.

Favorite city/place in the world and why?
London. I spent good time there and made good friends. Met interesting people from all over the world with different backgrounds. Had fantastic experiences. Loved the multicultural vibe. Enjoyed awesome theaters and museums. And tried great food.

Name one thing you are good at and would be your best piece of advice to someone in this regard?
I am a resilient being. My two cents would be just kept yourself curious, explorer and just keep trying, whatever the outcome may be, it is an experience, and it is valuable. You’ll surely learn more from trying rather than not. Do not let the fear to “fail” prevent you from moving forward.

What are your favorites hobbies?
I love to be active; my favorite hobbies are: yoga, hiking, grilling, swimming, soccer, basketball, and paddleboard.

Where is your dream vacation destination?
Bora-Bora.

Where was your favorite vacation?
Tulum.

What is your favorite Turner Group moment?
Last year’s Turner Group retreat at Laguna Beach. For context, I was hired “virtually” in the middle of the pandemic when travel was restricted, consequently our team meetings were all by zoom. Therefore, it was 9 months after I joined the team that for the first time I met most of them in person. It was great to see everyone and see they were real, and more importantly to get to meet their amazing families.

It was a great opportunity to get to know each other better, connect and laugh hard.

What does company culture mean to you?
I believe culture is at the core of any company. It’s a transparent representation of how an organization of individuals, think, act, behave, respond, communicate, feel and live on their own. Hard to quantify it and easy to see it. For me it’s about love what you do!

What would it be if you could only eat one type of food for the rest of your life?
Tacos. They are universal. Simple. Dynamic. Easy to pair. And you can have them at any time of the day.

What is one of your work rules?
Do the right thing even when nobody’s watching.

“We look forward to connecting with you”
